Welcome, Bekah!

After recently announcing an opening for our Events Coordinator position, weΒ received a flood of amazing applicants, interviewed several strong candidates, and in a “like-it-was-meant-to-be” moment, joyfully made a decision to add Bekah Schwimmer Zitron to our staff. Join us in welcoming her to our #magical team!

Bekah is a native of the Washington, DC suburbs where she developed art programs and educational outreach for neighborhood cultural institutions and later taught high school Art. After moving to Kansas City with her husband and two sons seven years ago, she became involved in the Kansas City art education community, working at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art Ford Learning Center, Wee Create Art Studio, and currently works with elementary age students.

Bekah has a degree in Media Arts and Design and Studio Art from James Madison University, and continued her education in child development at The University of Virginia. She has served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations, including The Dupont Kalorama Museums Consortium, Fashion Group International, and Brookside Mothers’ Association, helping to plan charity events. She loves to watch children experiment with different mediums to discover that everyone can create a masterpiece!

We can’t wait to see all that unfolds at Camp Encourage thanks to her heart and talents!
