UNIQUE EXPERTISE IN THE FIELD OF AUTISM
Camp Encourage, a Kansas City nonprofit was founded by special educators in 2007, with intentions to provide safe and welcoming spaces where youth on the autism spectrum can thrive and gain skills for life. Since that founding year, the team - primarily made up of past special educators - has gained unique perspectives that can apply across many settings. It is our hope to share our wisdom and expertise with you to further our reach and positively impact more individuals on the autism spectrum along with those individuals in their lives (coworkers, educators, administrators, caretakers, and other supporters).
Schools
Whether it is a small group focused on a particular student or an audience that includes an entire district, our staff can bring a like-no-other perspective. General information about the autism spectrum can be provided or topics can be tailored to fit your team’s needs. With a focus on evidence based practices, our team provides practical strategies and encouragement for understanding and growth.
Corporations
We provide educational opportunities to support corporate efforts focused on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Our trainings can increase understanding autistic coworkers which fosters a caring work environment. Topics can be specific to autism or can be general such as learning strategies to better understand those with differences.
Camps
No matter the population served, all camp staff can benefit from helpful strategies when it comes to supporting campers. Camp Encourage can provide informational training on a variety of topics, can support individuals hoping to start a camp for neurodiverse individuals, and/or could be “on call” to consult when something arises during a camp session.
