SUMMARY:Through Our Eyes 2025
DESCRIPTION:Guests will be introduced to a panel of amazing autistic adults that will share the real and raw truth of their life on the spectrum. Discussions will include life then and now\, relationships\, work life\, and so much more. Snacks and drinks will be provided. \nDate:\nSaturday\, March 1\, 2024 \nTime:\n10:30am to 12:30pm \nLocation:\nKauffman Foundation Conference Center (4801 Rockhill Road\, Kansas City\, MO) \nCost:\nThis event is free\, thanks to the generosity of our supporters. \nTo Register:\nREGISTER NOW\nSchedule:\n10:30am Check in begins- enjoy a treat and find a seat \n10:45am Welcome and introductions \n11:00am: Through Our Eyes Discussion Featuring our Panelists \n12:15pm: Q & A Period \n12:30pm: Closing Thoughts & Bid Adieu \nAbout the Panelists:\nEnigma Addis \nI’m twenty years old. My pronouns are they/them. I currently live at home with my parents and two dogs\, Stella & Louie. I take a choir class through Maple Woods Community College. My favorite thing ever is music. I play piano\, sing in choir\, and I used to play trumpet. On top of making my own music\, I also love listening to rock & metal bands and attending concerts. Starset\, Shinedown\, & Breaking Benjamin are a few of my favorite bands. I currently work part time at a coffee shop called HullHouse Coffee. They’re an inclusive place with a mission of acceptance. I have been working there for a little over a year now and I absolutely love my job. I mostly work the register\, although I have started learning how to actually use the espresso machine. And finally\, I love telling dad jokes. I absolutely love terrible puns.  \nJoe Harman \nJoe Harman is the manager of Neuro Diverse City (NDC)\, a neurodivergent and disability-focused social recreation center for teens and adults in Platte County\, MO\, and active lived-experience autism consultant. Before leading NDC\, Joe worked as a stand-up comedian with jokes and stories that share the autism experience with respect and insight and was an inaugural grantee of the Steel City Arts Foundation in Pittsburgh\, PA. Joe’s special interests are Muppets and the TV show Taskmaster and will go on forever if you bring them up. Joe is non-binary with he/they pronouns. \nMolly McDermott \nMolly was born in Romania in 1993. She lived in a children’s hospital until she was almost five. She was adopted by Michael & Kelly McDermott and now lives in Olathe\, KS. Molly graduated from Olathe South High School via Prairie Learning Center in 2013. She loves dogs and nurtured her ability to train them in the 4-H program for six years. She also likes to play softball & was on and adult team for seven years. Molly enjoys researching autism & wants to further her education in autism studies.  \n
